If you think game subtitles should be better then cool. I'm 100% about making reasonable accommodations for people to access our information. We ask our writers to put alt text on images, we support making our site screen reader friendly. If you read a chart at Ars and wonder why the colors we use are what they are it's because I carefully chose them to be as friendly as I could make them to all forms of color blindness. I'm not saying I have the only right point of view, but I'm coming from a place where I hold two things sacred:ġ) I believe in keeping the creative process free, as a general principleĢ) I think the world is hateful enough, and we need to be careful where we're constantly directing anger I'm still reading people's thoughts, definitely not necromancy to post here, and thanks, I appreciate it. You're making all the points I would want to make, but way better than I would be able to I know this is old (I hope it's not considered thread necromancy), but I just wanted to thank you for being the voice of reason in this thread. When I talk to people who work in restaurants they tell me it's really helpful to understand that I'm not just being annoying when I ask about gluten, when they hear it's actually truly a legit health issue, like an allergy, and not some fad it makes them want to help me.Įducating people is good. Being entitled about it is a crappy way to live. There are games that aren't for you, it happens.

But there are places I can't eat, and that's life. It's really wonderful that there are more legit choices for me now. I don't believe federal law should force people to make food without gluten to accommodate me. I don't scream at bakers who use wheat flour.

I don't post on social media about how the food industry is full of scumbags. What I don't do is go into restaurants that don't make food I can eat and yell at them. I tell the management that I appreciate them. Here's the thing: when I find a place that supports me like that I go back. Which is awesome! Going out to eat is a really stressful experience for me often times. And, more importantly, actually preparing them in a way that's safe for me.

There has been a trend, as awareness rises, of actually being conscious of having gluten free items on the menu, labeled as such. Most restaurants literally don't serve anything I can safely eat.

That means that being gluten free isn't at trend or a fad, a single crumb of your sandwich in my food can poison me into being miserable for days.

Secondly, let me tell you about my 'disability' in relation to restaurants. There is no relation between these things you're comparing. Yet replacing "restaurant" and "building" with "FromSoftware game" in the above sentence is apparently just fine.įirst, that's a terrible analogy. If a restaurant said "look, we understand that people are disabled, but adding a wheelchair ramp goes against the artist's design for our building, and besides, there are lots of other restaurants out there with ramps you can go to".
